Vehicle Technology

• Hybrid drives – the market has seen the introduction of new retro fit hybrid solutions available for the commercial vehicle LCV sector. These easy to install systems can produce CO 2 and fuel cost savings in excess of 14.8% per annum and in many case far more. NFS has developed strategic relationships with suppliers in this field and is able to provide full support and advice. 
• Electric vehicle solutions – The market for electric cars, vans and trucks has change beyond all recognition in recent years and many fleets are now able to take advantage of zero emission vehicles for their fleets; we are able to give a wide range of support in this complicated area. 
• Gaseous Vehicles – The LPG sector is once again expanding and its becoming increasingly important that any fleet operating depot based vehicle fleets should consider the use of LPG or CNG. It is not right for all fleets but where the right system is used on the right vehicle application the environmental and financial savings can be significant. 
• Speed limiting systems – Speed is one of the biggest elements to impact on fuel use, emissions and driver safety; the use of speed limiting systems is now being seen as best practice for many fleets.

• Telematics – Telematics is a huge area that many fleet operators no longer understand. It is no longer just about a black box that can track your vehicle – it has now expanded into a very sophisticated range of information based solutions that are capable of giving “real time” data on almost any aspect of your vehicle operation and management. NFS is a specialist in this area and is able to work with our clients to design and implement innovative solutions for your fleet that will save money, lives and emissions.
• Telematic enable risk management systems – The use of technology to manage your fleets duty of care is an example of the way telematics can be used. The systems can now analyse the acceleration and deceleration rates of your drivers, measure speed and driving behaviour providing line managers with real time WRRS data.
• Speeding by road type – NFS works with one of the only providers of a system that is capable of reporting in real time the speed a driver is travelling against the actual speed limit for the road being used. It will create exception reporting for drivers who drive outside of agreed limits.
• Mileage management – The management of mileage is critical to the professional management of your fleet. Our systems enable you to manage business and private mileage, link actual business mileage direct into expenses systems and ensure that the padding of mileage claims is a thing of the past.
• Grey fleet mileage reporting systems – Like mileage management the reporting and management of grey fleet mileage is a nightmare for most fleets. NFS has solutions that enable drivers to automatically report accurate grey fleet mileage while enabling your grey fleet management to become more complaint with HSE guidelines.
• RAG Reporting – The systems used today can be linked to traffic light type systems on the dashboard that will tell the driver how is is performing under WRRS and eco driving. If he is driving aggressively, too fast or erratically then the RAG system will signal him with an amber or red light, when driving well they get a green light. The system can be set up to report all the data to the fleet manager and automatically send texts to the driver congratulating for good driving.
