Duty or Care and Work Related Road Safety
In today's fleet sector the issue of Duty of Care/Work Related Road Safety is one of the top issues facing fleets. It has the potential to eliminate the profitability of a company and destroy its brand equity if not managed effectively.  While the drama and hype featured in the press tells us that jail is a real possibility the reality is that the main threat comes from unlimited fines based on turnover and the impact to brand.  So there are a few questions you could ask yourself...

• Statistics show that 80% of UK companies do not have Work Related Road Safety policies and strategies in place - do you?

Despite the promises made by many companies it is not cost effective to throw expensive "in car" driver training at the Duty of Care issue this simply is not enough today.  It requires a high level of expertise, knowledge and work to develop a strategy that will improve the financial performance of the whole fleet while reducing its environmental impact.  This may include company and driver risk assessments, on line training and workshops and for a small percentage "in car" training may be an option, but only when cheaper more effective measures have been implemented
